Attending conferences can be a great way to network and learn new concepts. However, taking those concepts back to your office and trying to convince your team apply them can be daunting. In order to make GTAC attendees more successful at implementing what they learn at this conference we are going to give preference to teammates from the same company applying for attendance.
Objectives
The Google Test Automation Conference (GTAC) aims to create a friendly atmosphere where participants can discuss cutting edge challenges in test automation and evaluate potential solutions. A secondary goal is to use this unique forum to expose qualified, interested engineers to job opportunities in test engineering at Google.
 Overview
GTAC 2011 will comprise 2 full days of sessions at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. The conference will include a variety of presentations and interactive sessions.
Theme: Cloudy With a Chance of Tests
The composite meaning of this theme is purposeful: Testing apps that reside in the Cloud is itself a cloudy, as in opaque, process. Clouds on the horizon often signal change and testing in the Cloud certainly changes things. The Cloud breaks old testing paradigms and tools requiring that even the tried-and-true be rethought and recast. And, yes, the future of testing itself is cloudy and the need for testers and testing as it exists today is unclear. There are clouds gathering on the horizons of the discipline and this conference will be dedicated to interpreting their meaning and planning for their arrival. As always, GTAC will attempt to bring together people who have thought deeply about these subjects and are responsible for actual progress, technology and insights that will benefit others in the community.

Event History
The Google Test Automation Conference began in 2006 under the guidance and inspiration of Allen Hutchinson, then Test Engineering Manager. The first annual GTAC (called LTAC at the time after its London location) was hosted at Google's London office. Due to the tremendous success of LTAC, it was decided that GTAC would be formalized as an annual Google conference for test engineers, rotating locations to cover diverse locations, interests, and issues.
GTAC has been held each year at different Google Engineering centers -- New York (2007), Kirkland (2008), Zurich (2009), Hyderabad (2010), and this year in Mountain View (2011).
